Esports
The Office of Student Life & Engagement is developing a competitive esports program!
Opening Fall of 2023!
The new esports arena is in the Student Union Building and houses 10 gaming PCs, Nintendo Switches, and a broadcasting/ streaming station. Games such as Rocket League, Overwatch, and League of Legends will be offered. If you would like to be a part of the start-up process, join the Esports Club. The Grand Opening will be in September!

Recreation
All sports are recreational and vary in format. Students are encouraged to start a club sport for any interest that is not represented by the Office of Student Life and Engagement. You can learn about starting a club here.
Intramural sports programs are on hold until there is enough interest to support a program. If you wish to start a program, contact Angie at [email protected]. All participants must have a signed liability waiver before engaging in intramural sports. You may bring the waiver to the activity.

*Dodgeball has been postponed due to low attendence. If you are interested in starting a club league, please email [email protected].
Games are rain or shine.
Teams will have 6-8 players including 1 Captain. Participants must read the Intramural Sports Program Policy, sign the waiver and read the game rules.

Glow-in-the-Dark Kickball
Kickball is available to students interested in starting a club or coordinating a one-off event. Ask the Office of Student Life & Engagement for details.

Billiards
A billiard table is available for independent use in the Student Union Building.
Games
Come check out our selection of table games and video games down at the Student Union Building. We have a Wii with Just Dance 3 and Mario Kart, as well as Switch Sports available to borrow. There are billiards, table tennis, and basketball too!
Cornhole
There is a cornhole tournament planned for November 16 from 4-6pm by the firepit on the SUB lawn. More detailes to come!
Fauquier Campus

4square Volleyball will be available as a recrational game and is located near The Barn.

Table tennis is available for indipendent use in the Rose Loeb Center, Wolk Hall.

- October 3 at 5:30-7pm
- November 28 at 5:30-7pm
Winners will take home a $100 Visa Gift Card, with 2nd place taking home a $50 Visa Gift Card. Let’s play!

Therapy dogs will grace our Middletown Campus every other Thursday @ 12pm starting Sept 7. Check the event calendar for details!
World Mental Health Day
October 10 is World Mental Health Day and there will be activities and resources available in Cornerstone Hall from 10am-2pm. Come by and check it out!
Drop-In Yoga for Everybody
Join us every Monday in SUB room 217 for free beginner/intermediate yoga practice at 5:30pm. Bring your mat if you have one and be on time.
This class is designed for a broad spectrum of students from beginning to intermediate, and some more advanced level. Each class incorporates asana (postures), pranayama (breathing practice) Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation), and meditation. It can be adapted, adjusted and accommodated based on the student’s physical condition using available props. The class will help you maintain your natural condition: a body of optimum health, strength and flexibility, senses under total control, a well-disciplined, clear and clam mind, and a life filled with peace and joy. Om shanti, shanti, shanti.
safeTALK Suicide Prevention Training
safeTALK is a half-day training in suicide alertness. It helps participants recognize a person with thoughts of suicide and connect them with resources who can help them in choosing to live. Participants don’t need any formal preparation to attend the training—anyone age 15 or older who wants to make a difference can learn the safeTALK steps.

Mindfulness Meditation
Join Janet most Tuesdays for Mindfulness Meditation from 2-2:30 pm. These sessions are hosted in-person at the Fauquier Campus in Hazel Hall room 210 starting on 9/22 and running through 11/14.
No meeting on 9/12, 9/26 and 10/3.

Animal Assisted Therapy

Laurel Ridge Community College is a proud sponsor of the Stamping Out Suicide event and Stand Up for Mental Health Comedy Show taking place at the Fauquier Campus on Friday, Sept. 8. This event is hosted by Encompass Community Supports, formerly known as Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services.
