Guest / Visiting Student

Guest students are those who are primarily attending another college or university but wish to take courses at Laurel Ridge Community College.

How to Use Benefits at Laurel Ridge

  1. Complete application to Laurel Ridge. Apply – Attending another college
  2. Complete Visiting Student Enrollment Request, which can be emailed to [email protected]
  3. In accordance with Laurel Ridge Military Education Benefits, visiting students using federal military education benefits must provide to Laurel Ridge Veteran Services department, [email protected]:
    • Certificate of Eligibility (proof of military education benefits)
    • Parent letter from your home school that contains:
      • Course name and credits
      • Parent school degree plan
      • Original signature of parent school SCO
    • Complete Laurel Ridge VA Certification Request Form
    • Any additional information requested by School Certifying Official
  4. Pay tuition. If military education benefit does not pay 100% of tuition, student must pay difference at the time of enrollment.  Tuition and payment information
  5. After applying to Laurel Ridge Community College, we encourage visiting students to determine your domicile and tuition rate. Domicile for Veterans, Military, and Dependents. We highlight domicile and tuition rates because the VA will only pay instate tuition.

BAH / Monthly Housing Allowance

  • VA can pay benefits for courses taken at guest schools. If the student is only enrolled at the guest school, VA will pay for the credits taken at the guest school. If the student is enrolled at the parent school and the guest school at the same time (concurrent enrollment), VA will pay for the combined credit, taking overlapping enrollments into account.

Financial Information

  • Student must pay all charges at the time of enrollment. Post 9.11 Gi Bill students must pay all charges outside of expected VA payments.  VR&E students must provide VR& E authorizations, which lists tuition, fees and software.  Tuition and payment information
  • Some Laurel Ridge courses require software access, which is automatically charged to student financial account.  These software charges are not paid by military benefit, with VR&E as exception.

  • Click Finances – all charges will be listed here

Textbooks and Course Software

  • Course textbooks are available at Follett Bookstore. Follett is an independent bookstore.
  • Some Laurel Ridge courses require software access (not available at Follett), which is automatically charged to student financial account. These software charges are not paid by any military benefit, with VR&E as exception.
  • Upon enrollment, students must pay all charges or establish a payment plan.
  • To verify if a course has software charges, please review course notes within SIS (student information system) and course syllabus.
