Bring a yoga mat if you like, but we’ll have plenty available. If being on the floor isn’t comfortable, you can sit in a chair. Dress comfortably.

Who will teach the classes

Professor Polly Nesselrodt has experience in mindfulness skills such as meditation, body scans, and the basic principles of mindfulness. She is a trained yoga instructor. She will teach the classes and would be glad to answer any questions you have!

Why

These skills might help you find balance in your daily life as you juggle the responsibilities of parenting and being a student, probably along with other duties, as well.

These classes are part of an academic research project. The first 10 individuals to sign up and complete all requirements will receive $50.

Requirements to be in the study and be eligible for the drawing:

  1. Join the Canvas Mindfulness Training Group, complete consent forms and welcome survey.
  2. Attend at least 3 of the 4 sessions. You can select the 9:30 a.m., 4:00 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. session each Wednesday during the 4 weeks the training is offered.
  3. Commit to practicing the skills you learn in class at home, at least 3 times per week.
  4. Submit weekly audio/video reflections in Canvas following each class. There will be a few questions to answer each week, and you can share whatever you want.
  5. Schedule and complete a final interview with Polly Nesselrodt to share your thoughts about the experience.
  6. Participate in any requested checking of transcripts if your story is chosen to be shared in the research.

If you sign up and end up not fulfilling all of the requirements, it’s no problem. Keep coming to the classes when you can; you just won’t be eligible for the $50 if you do not complete the study.
