Throughout the year, we will offer a variety of student leadership development trainings and workshops geared to multiple topics. Most sessions are open to all student leaders and member of our clubs and organizations, with the exception of one or two that are geared towards our Student Ambassador or Student Government teams. Some of the sessions are open to all students.

Leadership Hot Seat

Wednesday, 4/1, 5-6 p.m.

Zoom

Students will work in small groups and take turns stepping into the “leader” role during short, scenario-based rounds. Each round presents a realistic challenge—such as conflict, miscommunication, workload, or time pressure—and the leader must explain how they would address it. Practice real-time decision-making, communication, and confidence. Developed by a Student Ambassadors LIT group.

Leading Your Style: Identifying Your Leadership Philosophy

Lead Your Story (Part 1): Resumes and Interviews that Speak Volumes

Lead Your Story (Part 2): Open Resume Review & Coaching

In this follow‑up session, students will get a personalized résumé review led by members of the Laurel Ridge Human Resources team. Participants will receive direct, constructive feedback on formatting, content, and how effectively their résumés showcase leadership impact. Participants can come at any time during the 3-hour block.

Coloring Your Calm: A Guided Painting Experience for Leaders

Join us for a relaxing guided painting session designed to help student leaders unwind and explore creative expression as a powerful stress‑management tool. From Campus to Career: Tools and Try-Outs to Help You Shine

Get career-ready in a practical, approachable way designed specifically for college students. This one-hour session covers how to create a résumé that highlights your strengths and how to enter interviews with confidence instead of stress. You’ll also learn how internships, micro-internships, and virtual job simulations can help you explore career paths and gain real experience. Finally, we’ll discuss where to find these opportunities and
how to talk about them in ways that stand out to employers.

Confident, Curious, and Coachable: Leading Yourself into the Professional World

Entering the professional world requires more than technical skills—it requires self- awareness, adaptability, and strong communication. This session focuses on how student leaders can translate their campus leadership experience into the workplace while managing imposter syndrome and avoiding the pressure to “prove” themselves. Students will leave with practical tools for showing initiative, building trust, and contributing
meaningfully without feeling like they have to be the smartest person in the room.

Professor Addie Jones leads this session focused on understanding anxiety in the workplace and exploring practical strategies for navigating it.
