Spring Break

The Office of Student Life & Engagement is sponsoring 8 students to participate in the Oconee County Habitat for Humanity Collegiate Challenge during our 2024 Spring Break (March 10-17). You can now apply for one of these spots (through February 10). There are multiple parts for the application process (make sure you have completed the following before attempting the application as all parts must be completed in order to apply):

Alternative-Spring-Break-2024
  • Must be a current (Spring 2024) Laurel Ridge student, enrolled full- or part-time.
  • Must be 18 years or older to participate (these are the rules for the Habitat for Humanity Collegiate Challenge).
  • Obtain a Letter of Recommendation and attach to your application. This letter can be written by a Laurel Ridge staff or faculty member, or a member of the community. This letter should speak to your community service, leadership, and/or other qualities that we should consider as we review applicants.
  • Write a brief essay. Tell us why we should select you to be part of our group. Summarize your leadership and/or community services experience and skills, clubs/organizations you are a part of at Laurel Ridge, and how those experiences have shaped you, and, last but not least, what you would like to gain from this experience. Your essay should be no more than 600 words.

Applications will be accepted and reviewed through February 10. All selected individuals will be notified by February 15. If selected, to reserve your spot, selected individuals must turn in a $100 monetary contribution towards the trip by February 20. If, for any reason, you cannot attend if selected, please let us know so we can select another individual to attend.

If you have any questions, please email [email protected]. We are excited and looking forward to this amazing opportunity!
