Esports

The Office of Student Life & Engagement offers a competitive and recreational esports program- Lions Esports Organization (L.E.O.)!

The L.E.O.’s esports arena is in the Student Union Building and houses 12 gaming PCs, 3 Nintendo Switches with Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and Switch Sports, as well as a broadcasting/ streaming station. Games such as Rocket League, Valorant, and League of Legends will be offered. If you would like to be a part of the start-up process or start a team, join L.E.O.

Recreation

All sports are recreational and vary in format. Students are encouraged to start a club sport for any interest that is not represented by the Office of Student Life and Engagement. You can learn about starting a club here.

Intramural sports programs are on hold until there is enough interest to support a program. If you wish to start a program, contact [email protected]. All participants must have a signed liability waiver before engaging in intramural sports. You may bring the waiver to the activity.

Middletown Campus

6V6 Dodgeball

If you are interested in starting a club league, please email [email protected].

Games are rain or shine.

Teams will have 6-8 players including 1 Captain. Participants must read the Intramural Sports Program Policy, sign the waiver and read the game rules.

Glow-in-the-Dark Kickball

Kickball is available to students interested in starting a club or coordinating a one-off event. Ask the Office of Student Life & Engagement for details.

Games

Come check out our selection of table games and video games down at the Student Union Building. We have a Wii with Just Dance 3 and Mario Kart, as well as Switch Sports available to borrow. There are billiards, table tennis, and basketball too!

Cornhole

Cornhole is available. Those interested in playing recreationally or holding a tournament should contact the Office of Student Life & Engagement at [email protected].

Fauquier Campus

Table tennis is available for independent use in the Rose Loeb Center, Wolk Hall.

Middletown

Therapy Dogs

Therapy dogs will grace our Middletown Campus every other Thursday @ 12pm during the fall and spring semesters. Check the event calendar for dates!

STI Testing

A.R.E. will be on campus providing free STI testing throughout the semester.

Look for them monthly during the fall and spring semesters.

 

Drop-In Yoga for Everybody

Yoga classes are tentative and will be announced. Check the event calendar for updates.

Bring your mat if you have one and be on time.

This class is designed for a broad spectrum of students from beginning to intermediate, and some more advanced level. Each class incorporates asana (postures), pranayama (breathing practice) Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation), and meditation. It can be adapted, adjusted and accommodated based on the student’s physical condition using available props. The class will help you maintain your natural condition: a body of optimum health, strength and flexibility, senses under total control, a well-disciplined, clear and clam mind, and a life filled with peace and joy. Om shanti, shanti, shanti. 🙏

 

Fauquier

Mindfulness Meditation

Join Janet most Tuesdays for Mindfulness Meditation from 2-2:30 pm. These sessions are hosted in-person at the Fauquier Campus in Hazel Hall room 210 and online. Check the event calendar for meditation sessions.

You may access a recording of a past session in the “Virtual” drop-down.

Therapy Animals

We have Duncan the Therapy Dog and Lola the Mini-horse on campus regularly for snuggle sessions. Check out our Student Event Calendar for upcoming dates!

 

Walking Trail

Did you know there is a beautiful trail on campus? It’s a great place to unwind between classes. Just walk to the right-hand corner of the lower parking lot and look for signage. The trail is about a half-mile out and back.

STI Testing

FAHASS will be on campus to offer free STI testing monthly. Check out the event calendar for dates/times.

Virtual

Mindfulness Meditation

Meditation is streamed via Zoom almost every Tuesday from the Fauquier Campus. Join Janet from 2-2:30pm at laurelridge.edu/meditation.
