An EKG Technician is a healthcare professional trained to conduct diagnostic tests that evaluate the electrical activity of a patient’s heart. These tests assist physicians in identifying and monitoring heart conditions, including arrhythmias, heart attacks, and other cardiac disorders.
Primary duties include preparing patients for procedures, operating EKG machines, accurately recording and monitoring test results, assisting physicians during cardiac testing, and ensuring equipment is properly maintained. EKG Technicians also document and manage patient records to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Working in settings such as hospitals, clinics, and cardiology practices, EKG Technicians play a vital role in the early detection and ongoing management of cardiovascular disease.
Award upon completion: Certified EKG Technician (CET) Certification
