The Campus Police Department is committed to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all students, employees, visitors and community members. We strive to provide courteous and professional service while remaining vigilant in protecting the life and property of those who come to all college locations.

Campus police officers exercise the powers and duties conferred by law upon police officers of cities, towns, or counties, according to Va. Code § 23-234 including, but not limited to, enforcing criminal and traffic laws of the Code of Virginia, making arrests, issuing traffic summonses and conducting criminal investigations. Campus police officers are certified by the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). Security officers are also certified by DCJS, but do not have police or arrest powers.

Campus Police and Security Officers are trained and certified in CPR and the use of an AED (automatic emergency defibrillator).  They assist with emergencies, evacuations, and drills, as well as vehicle battery jumps, unlocking cars and providing escorts to parking lots.

Reporting Crimes

The Campus Police Department encourages victims and witnesses of crimes to make a report to Campus Police in a timely manner.

  • Middletown Campus and Luray-Page County Center  540-868-SAFE (7233)
  • Fauquier Campus 540-351-1555
  • Call 911 for emergencies only, and then call Campus Police.

Anyone wishing to report a non-emergency crime or suspicious activity can complete an incident report through the See Something, Say Something incident reporting form.

Confidential Reporting

If requested, a confidential report may be made to the Chief of Police or designee without revealing the identity of a victim.  A confidential report will allow Campus police to notify others of potential danger and collect crucial information about a crime with regard to location, description of suspects and methods used without releasing victim/witness identity.  Confidential reports of crimes may be made by phone at 868-SAFE (7233) for the Middletown campus and Luray/Page County Center or 540-351-1555 at the Fauquier campus, in person at the Campus Police Office, Police Desk or by sending an e-mail to [email protected]

Help is always available upon request and those willing to make a report of crime to Campus Police may at a minimum receive counseling and referral information.
