Come out to Laurel Ridge’s Fauquier Campus Saturday, Nov. 22, and take care of some of your holiday shopping. Dozens of vendors are participating in the Holiday Village Craft Fair & Maker’s Market sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. The fair is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We have 60-plus vendors booked, and almost all are local artisans and crafters,” said English Professor Lisa Dunick, advisor for the Fauquier Campus of PTK. “We are also having food trucks and entertainment. Happy Family Ranch will be serving tacos and burgers, while Yoder’s Donuts will be selling freshly-made donuts.
“The Iron Lions, a local, medieval sword-fighting club, will be doing demonstrations at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. There will be opportunities for kids to take pictures with the knights and to touch/try on pieces of armor. We also have a local school choir coming to sing carols in Hazel Hall at 10:30 a.m., and are hoping to have more musical entertainment, as well.”
Vendors who have signed up include Glitzy Dragon Creates, Stix & Stones, Small Life Photography, Maven & Muse Co., Xpressive Scents, Joy’s Treasures: Jewelry & Keepsakes, Annie’s Little Treasures, Uncle Brian’s Hot Sauce, Larry’s Instarsia and D-Licious Pound Cakes LLC.
The holiday market is a fundraiser for PTK, said Dr. Dunick.
“We’re raising money to help our members travel to the national convention, which can provide opportunities to network and grow their leadership skills,” she explained. “We’re also working on fundraising for our new Foundation-based scholarship fund to help well-deserving students afford the PTK membership fee, which provides them access to numerous scholarships, professional resources, and leadership opportunities.”
