Phel is an active participant in writing classes and book clubs and is always looking for opportunities to learn more about the written word. She has received a number of writing awards since releasing her Memoir. She loves to speak to books clubs and at festivals, was featured as a speaker for James Madison University’s Special Collections Library Series and the Cosmos Club in Washington D.C. and was featured at L.L. Bean Corporate Headquarters in Freeport, Maine in their Winter Lecture Series.
