Tiffany Riggs

Laurel Ridge Community College student, Tiffany Riggs, is one of nine students in the Commonwealth of Virginia to receive The Valley Proteins Fellows Program Scholarship. The program, which began with the 2011-2012 class, is now in its fifth year and is made possible through a generous donation by Valley Proteins, Inc., based in Winchester, VA. Only extraordinary second-year students attending a Virginia Community College can be selected for the Valley Proteins Fellows Program. This prestigious scholarship awards up to $5,000 for tuition, books, fees and expenses. In addition to the generous award, the Fellows Program provides recipients with the opportunity to share in special experiences to enhance their academic and leadership potential.

Fellows are selected on the basis of demonstrated academic excellence, leadership potential, and financial need. To date, 36 Fellows have completed the program, earned their associate degree and continued on to colleges and universities.

Riggs is a resident of Fort Valley, VA and started her journey with Lord Fairfax as a dual enrolled student. She is active in sports, forensics, and student government at Laurel Ridge. She is working toward an Associate of Arts and Science Degree in Business Administration.

Dr. Cheryl Thompson-Stacy, Laurel Ridge President said, “Tiffany Riggs is an exceptional Laurel Ridge student.  She is engaged in many student organizations including our student government association and provides leadership to our student body.  I am not surprised that she was chosen for this prestigious statewide program given her academic and student engagement success at Lord Fairfax.  I am very proud of Tiffany and know that she will represent Laurel Ridge extremely well.”

The 2015-2016 class of Fellows includes students from Reynolds Community College, Eastern Shore Community College, Laurel Ridge Community College, Northern Virginia Community College, Piedmont Virginia Community College, Southwest Virginia Community College, Germanna Community College, and Thomas Nelson Community College.
