Longtime residents of Frederick County, Danny and Wendy Leonard have included the Laurel Ridge Educational Foundation in their estate plan. The Robert D. and Wendy L. Leonard Scholarship will support residents of Winchester and Frederick County who are enrolled in post-secondary degree or workforce training programs in the skilled trades or technology.
Mr. Leonard worked at Hazleton Laboratories for 31 years doing biomedical research. After retiring, he worked on their small family farm. Mrs. Leonard taught school for 34 years, 23 of which were spent at Bass Hoover Elementary School.
“We are proud to help Laurel Ridge Community College train the next generation of men and women in the skilled trades,” the couple said. “There is a terrible shortage of people qualified for these good jobs. We hope more parents and students will take a closer look at the opportunities.”
There are many ways to support the Laurel Ridge Community College through your estate plans. Some donors have included a bequest in their will, trust, or donor-advised fund. Others have added the foundation as a primary or secondary beneficiary of an insurance policy or qualified retirement plan. A gift of any size makes a difference!
