Writing A Thank You Letter Guidelines

Donors have given money to support students at Laurel Ridge, because they believe in the power of education. They are interested in you and are very touched to hear from the scholarship recipient.

It is important to write a thank you letter, but sometimes it’s hard to know how to start. Here are some suggestions:

Date

Dear Donor,

Paragraph 1: Say thank you and explain how the scholarship will help you. (Ex. I am writing to thank you for making the ___ scholarship possible. Because of this award, I can….)

Paragraph 2: Tell the donor a little bit about yourself. (Ex. Where did you grow up? Where did you go to school? Talk about your accomplishments, your family, job, hobbies, responsibilities, etc.)

Paragraph 3: What are your educational and career goals?

Thank you,
Write Your Name

Please Proofread Your Letter before Submitting (ex. no lower case “i’s” when talking about yourself)

Scholarships have been established by generous individuals and organizations in our community who believe in our students and want to help them achieve the dream of a college education or workforce credential.
