Welcome to Crazytown! Laurel Ridge Dinner Theatre is presenting “Crazytown,” a comedy by Jonathan Rand Nov. 18 and 19 in the McCoy Theatre, at the Middletown Campus, 173 Skirmisher Lane.
“It’s kind of like a newscast type of show,” explains director Calee Suddath.
She says the play shifts to various scenes around town, sort of the way a news broadcast might, but with the scenes depicted being on the zany side. For instance, one scene shows two police detectives interrogating a man because he is too nice, while another has two adults campaigning to be president − of an elementary school.
“It’s just weird, crazy things that happen in a town that isn’t a regular town,” says Suddath, who is in her fifth year of directing dinner theatre productions at Laurel Ridge. “It’s just an odd comedy.”
The cast and crew is made up of current and former Laurel Ridge students.
The Friday, Nov. 18 show is preceded by dinner in the Corron Community Development Center at 6 p.m., with the play beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets that evening are $20. The Saturday, Nov. 19 show is at 7 p.m., with no dinner beforehand. Tickets for that show are $5.
