Middletown, VA. The Office of Workforce Solutions at Laurel Ridge Community College is offering a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training this fall for those aspiring to be a professional truck driver holding a CDL-A endorsement.
Laurel Ridge Workforce Solutions has partnered with CDS Tractor Trailer Company to bring CDL training to the local area. CDS is committed to providing professional training and job placement assistance to students. Local, regional and over-the-road companies are calling CDS regarding their graduates. Students hear from several trucking company recruiters while attending school, and most have job offers before they graduate.
This new program would not have been possible without support from key partners in the service area. The range site, where hands-on driving practice will take place, is located in Front Royal, VA. This location was secured with special assistance from the Front Royal-Warren County Economic Development Authority. Valley Proteins, Holtzman Oil, and Appalachian Freight donated trucks and trailers.
“We’re very excited to offer this new program, and what makes the truck driving training even more feasible for local students is the new financial aid opportunity available through Laurel Ridge Workforce Solutions which covers many industry credential offerings,” said Guy Curtis, Coordinator of Marketing, Business, and Industry Training.
Laurel Ridge Workforce Solutions offers a variety of Career Changer programs, each consisting of accelerated training classes focusing on specific skills and credentials for jobs in high-demand industries. These programs include Healthcare, Transportation, Industry, Manufacturing, Trades, Computers, Business and Professional Development. Laurel Ridge Community College was known as Lord Fairfax Community College until June 2022. For consistency purposes, the college will be referenced as Laurel Ridge going forward.
