Colleen Snyder lives in Linden, Virginia. In 2020, she discovered that she is the first person in the U.S. found to have a rare Northern Ireland genetic mutation that caused her gigantism. Colleen contacted London genetic gigantism researcher Professor Márta Korbonits who introduced her to Irish historian Brendan Holland who shares her gigantism diagnosis which resulted in the book In Search of Giants. Colleen has been published in The Washington Post and Destinations Magazine.
