She has a bachelor’s degree in Geography and a minor in Wildlife Conservation from George Mason University & SMSC (Smithsonian Mason School of Conservation).  She has 6 years of GIS and local government experience from working for Warren County and has been with Page County and NSVRC for 3 years. Emma assists local governments within the region with their GIS needs and carries out mapping and data analysis for internal regional projects. She is very passionate about Geography & GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and loves to teach others about its versatility and the ability to do this type of job within your local community. In her free time\, she enjoys doing yoga\, hiking\, gardening and spending time with friends and family. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNathaniel C. Burke\, MS.\, DVMRose Hill Veterinary ClinicLarge Animal Veterinarian \n\n\n\nDr. Burke is a native of Page County Virginia\, where he grew up on the family farm raising swine and beef cattle.  After graduating from Page County High School\, he became a life-long Hokie\, earning his B.S.\, M.S.\, and DVM from Virginia Tech in 2011.  As a veterinarian\, Nathaniel has worked as an ambulatory large animal clinician in PA\, a mixed animal veterinarian in the Shenandoah Valley and as a field veterinarian for the VA Department of Agriculture.  he is married to Dr. Sarah Krall (VMRCVM ’10)\, who he met in veterinary school\, and has a son\, Grayson and a daughter\, Anna Mae.   Nathaniel enjoys good music\, travel\, and cuisine\, especially when combined with family and friends.  He is a devoted fan of Virginia Tech athletics and has enjoyed seeing his young son bloom into a football fanatic\, even in a down year.  He also relishes the chance to spend time fishing and can be found casting a line somewhere on The Shenandoah River or along The Outer Banks whenever time permits. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. William HallingValley Eye ClinicOptometrist \n\n\n\nWill Halling grew up in Harrisonburg\, Virginia. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Brigham Young University\, where he discovered his passion for optometry. He went on to graduate with his Doctorate in Optometry and Masters in Vision Science from The Ohio State University in 2025. DESCRIPTION:Meet outside the Student Union Building  \n\n\n\nWhat to Expect \n\n\n\nParticipants will enjoy a guided bird hike on the Laurel Ridge trails. The terrain is mostly flat\, though trails may be muddy\, particularly after recent rain. \n\n\n\nWhat to Wear and Bring \n\n\n\nPlease dress for the weather and wear sturdy\, comfortable walking shoes suitable for soft or muddy ground. Consider bringing layers\, rain gear\, water\, and binoculars if you have them. \n\n\n\nWeather & Cancellations \n\n\n\nThe hike will be canceled in the event of heavy rain or extreme weather.  \n\n\n\nFocus of the Hike \n\n\n\nThe hike will emphasize local breeding birds\, with opportunities to observe other species as they arise. Participants should be prepared to be outdoors for the duration of the hike.

She has over 20 years of civil and mechanical experience in design and construction and has worked on a variety of projects in healthcare\, education\, transportation\, industrial\, and commercial markets. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Woodstock and Past Board Member of Associated General Contractors of Virginia. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nR.J. Strother II\, P.E.TriadShenandoah Valley Regional Manager \n\n\n\nR.J. has spent his entire geotechnical consulting career with Triad. He was attracted to the construction and engineering industry while observing the large scale growth of the Shenandoah Valley. R.J. earned an associate degree in business administration from Laurel Ridge Community College in the early 2000’s. He then went on to graduate from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 2006.  R.J. was born and raised in Winchester and has been working in Triad’s Winchester office since he was recruited. However\, he has performed or assisted with geotechnical and geophysical explorations for each of Triad’s offices over the years. R.J. began his engineering career as a Staff Engineer in 2007\, progressed to Senior Engineer and then Geotechnical Practice Leader in 2015. Mr. Strother serves on the Board of Directors and now serves as Regional Manager of our Virginia offices. He is passionate about building and fostering strong client relationships that will continue to contribute to the positive growth of his community and finds great satisfaction in being directly involved with the strategic planning for Triad’s future and mentoring new staff members.
