Peanut Butter Collection Drive
Monday, March 20 @ 12:00 am - 11:30 pm
An event every day that begins at 12:00 am, repeating until March 24, 2023

Did you know that March is National Peanut Month?
During this month, we reflect upon the thousands of Virginia’s children and senior citizens who are woefully food insecure. As many as 1-in-12 children in the Valley suffer from a lack of consistent nutritious meals, and senior-citizen food insecurity has grown by 50 percent. And it is no surprise that peanut butter is such a desired food product by food insecure families as it has plenty of protein, is very filling, and easy to use by all age groups. In fact, peanut butter is one of the most requested foods with shelves chronically bare. The Laurel Ridge Community College community realizes this tremendous need and WISHES TO HELP!
Therefore, from March 20 to March 24, Laurel Ridge employees and students will be asked to donate at least one jar of peanut butter (or allergy friendly alternatives such as nut butters). All donations will go to support our Laurel Ridge Food Pantries so that the pantries can restock their shelves and send peanut butter home to hungry students and families in need.
Drop off your donations:
- Middletown Campus: Cornerstone Hall, Lobby (box)
- Fauquier Campus: Wolk Hall, Rose Loeb Center (box)
- Luray-Page County Center: Jenkins Hall, Front Desk
In addition, knowing that the Virginia Peanut Growers Association has long made a substantial donation of peanut butter to the Virginia Federation of Food Banks each March, many of our sister community colleges will also join us in March through their own food drives—and together we will stand with our Virginia peanut growers to serve our neighbors with a much-needed and simple product.
Join us. It’s Peanut Butter (hold the jelly) time…
