Virtual Event
Get a detailed overview of the dual-enrollment program and what will be expected of your child during an online information session beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15 via Zoom. You’ll learn about resources to help navigate the college experience, the transfer process, the Transfer Virginia guide, important dates, resources for the student to be successful, and FERPA regulations.
Additionally, you’ll discover the numerous benefits your student can get from dual enrollment:
- Create a continuum of learning from high school to college, ensuring a smooth transition for your student.
- Earn college credits while still in high school, which can be applied toward graduation at Laurel Ridge Community College or other institutions.
- Avoid duplication of coursework and provide a wider range of course options for your student.
- Shorten the time required to complete a college degree or certificate after high school, potentially lowering the overall cost of postsecondary education.
- Sharpen your student’s general academic preparedness for college, increasing their readiness for future challenges.
- Increase flexibility in scheduling at four-year schools, allowing time for internships, studying abroad, and other enriching experiences.
- Access potential scholarship opportunities with four-year schools based on your child’s successful completion of college courses.
- Meet prerequisites for desired post-secondary programs, giving your child a head start on their educational goals.
