Laurel Ridge Community College is committed to creating a climate that reflects the diversity of its students, staff, and faculty in its teaching, research projects, programs and activities. Likewise, the College respects individuals for their unique qualities, and their many contributions toward enhancing a culturally rich, college environment.
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council provides college-wide leadership to promote equity and advocate for improvements to the campus diversity climate. Programming the Council has supported in the past include the Diversity, Unity, and Equity Art Contest, The Slave Dwelling Project at Belle Grove, Gender Identity Training, and Film Screenings including Just Mercy and Skin Deep.
The Council supports Laurel Ridge in its quest to be a supportive, academic environment that is fully cognizant of individual differences. The Council is also committed to help each person fulfill their potential for academic excellence.
As a student member of the DEI Council, you will be expected to follow the Council by-laws and attend meetings via Zoom, scheduled for the fourth Friday of each month at 9 a.m.
